About

Toddy lives and works as a carpenter in his home county of Galway, he has always had an interest and a love for wood and traditional craftwork. As well as wood carving he also makes traditional style solid wood furniture and incorporates wood turning and Sugan weaving into his pieces.

He initally trained as an apprentice carpenter in his home town of Tuam and went on to work in the industry. Over the years he has worked in every aspect of the trade and spent many years making traditional style furniture with specialist companies in the west of Ireland.

To progress further he enrolled a wood carving course run by Israeli Master Craftsman Yoran Drori. The course helped Toddy develop and hone his carving skills which he continually builds upon. Initially starting out with simpler pieces he progressed onto more detailed and intricate pieces in varying design styles and types of wood. Toddy loves to combine tradional celtic symbols and lettering in his carving and this is a prodominant feature in many of his pieces.
